Day 1 has concluded and what a day it was!
The Stuartholme girls were in the first race and the second last race of the day, with lots in between. We are proud to say the girls did a wonderful job today.
Jessie Macqueen and Emma Field qualified their Year 11 double first up. Those girls will be rowing in the semi tomorrow morning.
4/6 of the Year 9 doubles qualified through to the Semi finals tomorrow. The girls that missed out all had close races, well done girls!
Lucy, Edina and Kenzi all then raced in the Open Single Scull. Congratulations to the girls on their close races and well done to Kenzi for qualifying into the Final tomorrow afternoon.
3/6 of our Year 10 doubles qualified through to the Seni finals tomorrow. Again, some very close racing in a tough field. Well done girls!
Emma, Liliain and Jessie then took on the U17 single scull and had some great races. Congratulations to Jessie Macqueen who placed 2nd and booked a spot in the Semi final tomorrow.
As we moved into the afternoon, the Year 8 girls took the water. Well done to Claire Loughman and Grace Graham who both qualified into the semi final of the U14 single scull.
Next up was the U15 single scull (Year 9), where there has been a record number of entries (118), with 96 girls being allowed entry into the racing. Stuartholme were granted 8 positions in the heats and I'm happy to say all 8 girls qualified into the Quarter-Finals tomorrow afternoon. Well done girls.
The Year 10's then took the water in the U16 single scull. 3/8 of our girls qualified through the difficult field with many of our girls finishing in close 4th. Well done to Elke Marriott, Genevieve James and Isabel Johnson who qualified through.
The Year 8's jumped back on the water for their double scull races and qualified 2/4 races to the semi-finals! Well done to Claire Cameron, Emily Sullivan, Claire Loughman and Ruthie Heagney.
Finally we finished the day with the U16 and U19 Inter-Regional races (Met-West) where Stuartholme had 7 girls representing. I'm very happy to report that both crews placed 2nd in some very exciting races, claiming the Silver medals! Congratulations to Grace Gaston, Genevieve James, Sophie Marriott, Emma Tucker, Sophia Tully, Jessie Macqueen and Lucy Theodore on some fantastic afternoon racing.
A huge thank you must go to the amazing parents who were running around all day feeding the girls and ensuring everything was in working order under the tent.
We're about to eat dinner as a team back at the accomodation. Eat up girls!!! Big day tomorrow!!
