Day 2 has concluded and Stuartholme had a wonderful time out at Bucca.
My apologies for not posting more on the blog - we have been so busy due to the amount of races that there hasn't been much opportunity to sit down!
The girls started the day with the Year 11 double scull semi-final with Emma and Jessie. The girls had a good race but unfortunately missed out on a berth in the final. Well done girls.

We then moved on to the U17 Single Scull with Jessie Macqueen. Jessie gave it her best effort but unfortunately missed out on a spot in the Final.
Next up was the Year 10 Four. These are a new event for the girls who normally only row sculling events. Both crews had wonderful rows with the 1st quad girls qualifying for the Final.
The Year 9 quads took to the water for their heats just before lunch! The 2nd quad girls had a great win in the first heat and the 1st quad had a battle for 1st and had to settle for 2nd to Somerville House. Both crews qualified for the final. Unfortunately the 3rd quad girls had an equipment failure, but with 3 girls rowing had a very gutsy and brave row across the line to finish in 5th ahead of a couple of crews. Well done girls.
Next came down the Open Quad with Charlotte, Lucy, Edina, Kenzi and Jessie. The girls had a great row crossing the line in a very close 2nd place qualifying then for the final. Well done girls.
We then moved on to the first normal event Finals of the competition. The first event was the Year 9 doubles with Emma Tucker, Sophia Tully, Zara Wareham and Kyla O'Shanassy.
im very happy to report that the girls had an absolutely brilliant race claiming both the GOLD (Emma and Sophia) and the BRONZE (Zara and Kyla). It was a very close battle for Silver but the girls just got beaten by a fast finishing All Hallows' crews. Congratulations girls.

Next up was the Final of the Open Girls Single Scull. This is a very high class event with many of the girls in this field rowing in Junior or U21 Australian teams. Kenzi Wareham had a great race to finish in 7th just back from the middle of the field. Well done Kenzi!
The Year 10 double final then came down with Genevieve James and Elke Marriott. The girls had a fantastic race and claimed the BRONZE medal into a strong head breeze. Congratulations girls!
The Year 8 quads took to the water again for their finals and my goodness what some exciting racing!! The girls were in lanes next to each other and raced strike for stroke down the course.
Congratulations to the Year 8 1st quad who claimed BRONZE by a bow ball over the 2nd quad in 4th. Great racing girls!!

The Year 9 quads hit the water for a final row in their quads for the season. The 1sts had a tough battle all the way to the 100m mark and then managed to push away by about half a length to claim the GOLD. Our 2nd quad had a great race to finish in 5th just behind the leading pack. Well done to all girls!! (Issy Mailli, Emma Tucker, Sophia Tully, Zara Wareham, Kyla O'Shanassy, Charlotte Walker, Eleanor Orchard-Gibb, Ella Taylor, Jess Hardman, Zara Munro)
The last big boat event of the day was our Open Quad Final. This event is one of the most hotly contested boats in the competition. The girls had a great race to finish in 6th, but unfortunately just couldn't match the pace in the last 250m by some of the northern schools. Congratulations girls on a great race.
The final events of the day were the U15 scull (Year 9) which saw Emma Tucker, Sophia Tully, Zara Wareham and Zara Munro qualify through to the semis tomorrow. Well done girls.
